If I act happy, will I be happy?

I guess i’m just wondering if i pretend to be happy long enough…will i become happy. or if for anxiety disorders, if you pretend the symptoms aren’t there…will that help?

I know ignoring symptoms or emotions of any sort is most likely detrimental but isn’t constantly having the mindset of “i’m ill” (which will stop you from doing certain things), detrimental as well?

It feels like i’m in an endless cycle of negative emotions and being exhausted. if I force myself to act  happy, act like a happy person does…do you guys think it will help? The idea of “mind over matter” and what not.
